This veggie dip recipe is simple and so full of flavor! Serve with crunchy vegetables for a go-to healthy snack.

Veggie Dip

At this point, a good veggie dip is as American as apple pie, right? Veggie platters graced our childhood family gatherings, and really: there’s no easier way to get people to eat their veggies. Here’s our go-to you’ll want to make again and again: this Veggie Dip recipe! It’s ultra creamy and savory, and simple to whip up with just the right combination of spices. No need for prepackaged ranch seasonings here! This relatively healthy veggie dip is a snack everyone will love: and it comes together in just 5 minutes.

Ingredients in this veggie dip recipe

This veggie dip recipe tastes like what you’d expect from a veggie platter: only better! Something about the combination of seasonings here makes it absolutely irresistible: and they’re probably spices you already have on hand. The other trick? Combining Greek yogurt and mayonnaise to make a dip that’s creamy but not too rich. (We use this idea in our Caesar dressing, spinach artichoke dip, and more.) Here’s what you’ll need for this vegetable dip:

  • Greek yogurt
  • Mayonnaise
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Dried dill
  • Kosher salt
  • Chopped fresh chives or green onion tops
  • Fresh ground black pepper

All you have to do? Mix them together and serve. It’s that easy! Don’t have chives or green onion tops? It’s just as delicious without: but we highly recommend the fresh element for nuance in flavor.

Variations: add chili powder & more

Want to add even more nuance in flavor to this veggie dip? Adding ¼ teaspoon chili powder adds complexity without more effort. Keep in mind: it does turn the color of the dip a bit more towards the orange side! Here are a few more additions to vary this vegetable dip:

  • Chili powder (¼ to ½ teaspoon)
  • Smoked paprika (¼ to ½ teaspoon)
  • Ancho chili powder (A pinch or two)
  • Dried tarragon (½ teaspoon)

Best vegetables for dipping

What are the best vegetables for dipping into this veggie dip recipe? Of course, the sky’s the limit! But we find there are certain vegetables we love more than others. Here are the vegetables on our short list:

  • Carrots or rainbow carrots (we like rainbow for the look on the platter)
  • Celery
  • Bell pepper strips
  • Broccoli (but not cauliflower, which can be tough and harder to digest when eaten raw!)
  • Snap peas
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Kohlrabi sticks (surprisingly delicious)

  1. When my local grocery store discontinued their yogurt ranch dip, I churned through a bunch of recipes in an effort to duplicate it without much luck. This dip is exactly what I was looking for – healthy, with a true “ranch” flavor. The longer it sits, the better it gets. I think the chives develop a deeper flavor with time. No more store-bought dip for me.

  2. I’ve tried SO MANY greek yogurt based dips – usually to be disappointed by the flavor. This was the first one where I can confidently say, I’ll make it over and over again!!! If this is how a “quick dip” tastes – I can only imagine how amazing your other dips taste. On a side note – after trying so many of your recipes, I’ve purchased your cookbook and I’m SO excited about making more meatless meals for my family! I really appreciate all of the hard work you’ve put into helping home cooks like myself!!! So much inspiration on your website, the sky is the limit!!! :)

  3. This is SO delicious!!! I have made plenty of Greek yogurt based dips, and they always leave me wanting…more for some reason. This is absolutely perfect in every way, and if this is what a “quick” dip tastes like, then I cannot wait to see what your other dips taste like! On a side-note, due to how many of your recipes I have tried and loved, I went ahead and bought your cookbook today, and I’m eagerly awaiting its arrival! I can’t wait to display it in my kitchen.
